E-Z Download Page Protector

The E-Z Download Page Protector works by funneling your buyer through a redirect script that sets a cookie, (Both Versions), or creates a Server Side Session, (PHP Version), and then sends your buyer to the protected Thank-you page.

If this protected Thank-you page does not find the cookie, it automatically sends your visitor to the "Expired" web page. However, if it does find the cookie, (because the person actually bought your product and went through the redirect), it "pulls" up your current Thank-you page and shows it to your successful buyer, however only the protected Thank-you page URL is shown in the web browser's address bar, not your actual Thank-you page URL.

Do everything in these instructions before continuing with the "protect_download_link_instructions.txt" file for protecting your download link in your Thank-you Page.

Before you can upload these files to your web site and have your Download/Thank-you page protected, you will need to make a couple of changes to the files themselves.

First off, decide as to whether or not you will use the PHP Version or the HTML Version and open the corresponding Folder, (HTML_Version or PHP_Version), to access your scripts in this package.

I highly suggest only using the HTML version if your web hosting company DOES NOT support PHP. Otherwise, the PHP Version is superior in protection because what it does is done "Server Side" and not at the "Client Side". Meaning, the scripts operate on your web host's server and not in the Client's Browser as the HTML Version does.

The HTML Version does work if you can't use the PHP Version, but there is the very rare circumstance where the visitor will be savvy enough to stop the Javascript redirect and/or the Meta Refresh redirect before it can happen and thereby have access to your actual download page URL. The redirect in the PHP version can not be stopped.

With both Versions of the E-Z Download Page Protector, the default amount of time the buyer has to download your product is only while their web browser is open. Should they close their web browser, their Download session will expire.

If you would like to give your buyer additional time to access your Thank-you page and download your product, for the day, or even a few days, you can do the following:

Add "?d=1" to your new Successful Payment or Thank-you URL for your payment button/link. (Where the number equals how many days access you'd like to allow).

Your buyer could now visit the "http://www.yoursite.com/download/dlpage.php" page for 4 days until it expired.
